You could discuss the two types of drugs used to deal with stress related symptoms, Beta blockers and Benzodiazepines, or bio feedback if you have leant this.

AO1 would be describing how these treatments work and the effects they have on the body

Benzodiazepines:

-Enhance the activation of GABA (a nuerotransmitter, the body's natural form of anxiety relief)

-When the neurons in the brain respond it has a quietening affect on them.

-The effect of serotonin, a transmitter that has an arousing effect in the brain, is reduced by Benzodiazepines

Beta-blockers:

-Act directly on the heart and circulatory system

-Control the body's arousal

-It stops the hear rate risind and keeps blood pressure low

-Reduces the activity of adrenaline and noradrenaline, which is responsible for the fight or flight respnse

-By blocking the SAM pathways, adrenaline and noradrenaline cannot be released. This makes people more relaxed during a stressful period as it prevents physical responses to stress

AO2 would then be the evaluation of these methods:

+They have been proven to work, evidence from double blind experiments

+They are quick and easy to use, making them useful in the short temr

+Beta-blockers do not have long term damaging effecrs

However...

-They only deal with the symptoms of stress, not the actual stressors, therefore they do not deal with the undnerlying cuase of stress

-Benzodiazepines have serious side effects, including...

     Physical dependance

     Addiction

      Tolerance

I hope that's helpful for you :)
