differences between scum and scale?

Just wondering if anyone could help, thanks:)

Scum is when calcium/magnesium ions in hard water react with soap to form calcium/magnesium stearates (chemical name for scum), whilst scale forms when hard water is heated and the calcium compounds decompose to form calcium carbonate (chemical name for scale).
