What does her hair suggest about her character? This is is the quote: 'her hair hung in little rolled clusters, like sausages.'

Thank you! :)

It shows the reader Curley's wife's dream of being a Hollywood actress and how she would love to lead a glamourous life , this is because Hollywood actresses used to curl their hair. But it also shows the harsh reality as it uses the lexical choice 'sausage' as she is never going to be able to be a Hollywood Actress but all she can do is dream on the farm and try to look the part.

It's a quite unappealing description - not the beautiful seductive hair she was looking for, showing that her attempts to be so 'pretty' may not work like she intended

it shows the amount of effort she put into her appearance to gain people's attention (theme of lonliness) and also, the use of "sausage" shows how she is seen by the men as like an animal, or a posession, which is relivent to the time period, as women were oppressed in this time. I hope this helps, I got a B in my english GCSE, and did particularly well on this unit :)

also don't forget to mention that she is never named, and only refered to as culey's wife- aka, she is the wife belonging to curley, more proof she's only a possession to him.
