why does the water potential in the cytoplasm around the sperm cell have to be the same as in the sperm cell? I need the answer today please!!

If the water potential was lower outside the sperm cell, water would move out the sperm cell and the sperm cell would shrink.

if the water potential was higher outside the sperm cell, water would move into the sperm cell and the sperm cell would burst.
