Binomial Distribution!?

  • 0 votes

HELP! My teacher has told us to look binomial distribution up, and learn it, but the sites I usually go on don't explain it very well, and I don't get it at all! Are there any good resources that explain it is simple terms (for the simple minded, aka. me!)

Statistics make me want to cry. And I don't get why my teacher hasn't taught us any of this...

Please, please, please help, or I'm going to fail this exam big time ;(

kaaay ...

lets see if I can help

so they give you some info e.g probability that machine is faulty is 0.4 and not faulty js 0.6. You can name faulty 0.4 as P and not faulty 0.6 as Q . Then  it asks what is the probability of three of them being not faulty. For example.

it will always give a formula to pick the right stuff out of. Made up of p's and q's. Find any parts that has something like 3q or q cubed. Then, you substitute the p's and q's and work it out . an answer under one I think.

Vicky don't worry! I'm going to get a statistics book off him next maths lesson, so ask for one too! That binomial distribution is really weird, just ask him in lesson or something. Look at past papers on the Edexcel website to see how to do it in the mark scheme or something?

Yeah, I might get a book, that's a good idea :P Just paranoid that I'm going to end up going into the Stats exam not even knowing what it's about! :L

Is your school on the mymaths website? That's got a pretty good way of explaining it and I usually find it helps me:) www.mymaths.co.uk  or try getting a revision book for it, they'll cover all the topics you need anad explain it all so you don't miss anything for the exam

Ahh, that makes sense, but I thought there was something on the calculator, like a button to work it out with? But I don't know how to use it :/
