Balanced symbol equation

Showing 1 to 7 of 7

Hi
What is the balanced symbol equation of:
CaCO2+HCl--->CaCl2+H2O+CO2
Thanks :)

If you meant CaCO3 (limestone), then the equation is

CaCO3 + 2HCl ---> CaCl2 + H2O + CO2

hope it helps :)

I hate them...

Lol how do you even do them? I've done my chemistry C1 already but now Ive forgotten how to do them?

You have to make sure that all of the molecules of each element are balanced. So for example in this equation, you have...

  CaC03 + HCl ---> CaCl2 + H20 + CO2

Ca = 1           --->     Ca = 1

C = 1             --->     C = 1

O = 3            --->     O = 3 The Ca's, C's and O's are all equally balanced, so you leave them

H = 1             --->     H = 2

Cl = 1            --->     Cl = 2

The H's and Cl's are not balanced so on this equation it is quite easy and you just have to change the amount of HCl, until it is balanced ...

                      CaC03 + 2HCl ---> CaCl2 + H20 + CO2

simples :)
