In most colleges/6th forms, critical thinking or general studies is compulsory mainly because schools get more funding that way. They're taken along with your chosen subjects but unis don't really look at them.

Depends what college/sixth form you go to - I have to do general studies at mine but unis don't accept them because they are pointless so I have no idea why we actually have to do them...

I go to sixth form and because our school is a religious one we have to take level 1 & 2 NOCN RE. But it's only one lesson a week and it's easy. Apart from that nothing is compulsory, but i suppose other schools might have other subjects which may be compulsory - every school differs.

Depends.. like the sixth form i want to go to there are no compulsory subjects but u hve to choose a specific pathway, so u can only choose subjects in that its really restricted..

for example, i chose the science /maths pathway so have to choose three science/maths subjects and one other of my choice..

most places usually dont hve compulsory subjects.
