That's why it's called the Sustainable Design Exam.

yes, well they're obsessed with sustainability and recycling and that so there would be this topic on it, probably on every years textiles exams......but you need to know about other stuff as well, my teacher said that quite a lot of years, they put weaves on it, like the warp, weft and selvedge and that

i've put up some documents on textiles, one on fabric construction just then and it includes this, so if you have time, please check it out, and give me a rating or comment to let me know what you think. good luck in the exam though, mine's on the 22nd of June, when is everyone elses????? :D ***

not looking forward to the exam!! my class are in year 9 - we've been entered early! :0

A small tip - leave the designing section until last - even though it is at the start of the paper - more marks will be in the questions over all so if you design last - you will know how long you have to design. My class tried this when we were doing some mocks and it works - out of fourteen of us - all of us liked it! :)

Mine is on the 22nd June........ I was absolutely bricking it but I've calmed down a bit by telling myself that I don't care what I get, even though I do. It sounds really wierd but surprisingly it works!! Good Luck everyone!! x

Hi im doing a mock- it will be the same paper you did in the summer. how was it?, anything in particular I should revise?

There's an 8 mk question on computer used in design and manufacture, look at working drawings, and lots of questions on properties of fabrics. The design is art deco bags and here is a link to a resource i made about what to include in the design. it was based on last year's design context but a lot of it will be relevant to any design you do.

Good luck!! :)

Thanks. wow your resources are really helpful. is their anything else you can remember which was in the exam which could be of use?

Posted: 09-11-11 15:40 by Amy

Erm... I'm not sure, there was quite a bit about the environment in it I think, but I'm not sure what else. I have some other resources you could use so if you want the links to them let me know, and if you want me to make a resource then I'll be happy to help you. Also, I have started a discussion board for textiles students who are still studying it, so please tell anyone who's studying textiles to use this link - I really want to help people do well, cause I thought I was gonna fail but I got an A!

Anything you need, just let me know, preferably on that link :)
