when i mention theorists, i usually say something like... "this child uses blah blah blah to e.g. reinforce their statement  This supports (theorist...) e.g. Micheal Halliday, who puts forward his functions ... this child fits into the e.g. imaginative category due to to their speech when playing which suggests they have developed their own imaginative space.. or something along those lines.

It is usually structured 1) point from the text

2) why the child says this

3) which theorist it backs up

4) why it backs up these theorists, with examples to help.

Hope this is what u were after!

do you know some specific terms that I could use from the CLA topic.. could you name a few and their definitions and maybe round about when (what age) it would happen for a child.. (don't know if that makes sense...) lol
