there is no point cramming in last minute revision before the exam, you need to relax, the morning of the exam get up on time and have breakfast, stay calm, stressing will get you all wound up. it depends what exam as to what to take in, a calculator, black pens, other writing equiptment, if its maths you will need the equiptment, a clear pencil case and you are allowed a bottle of water, but only with no labels and as long as its clear. and then obvs no mobiles notes or electronic devices! always check your pockets just incase **

Before an exam make sure you always have a good meal. It needs to keep you going and provide enough energy. I don't think there's anything worse than not being able to concentrate in an exam because you are hungry/paranoid that your stomach will grumble. So if its a morning exam, have a good breakfast. Porridge is good as it is a slow release carbohydrate with a faily low GI. If it's an afternoon exam, have a good lunch. I like to have a jacket potato if it is possible but if not a sandwhich with some fresh fruit is good too. Oh and don't forget you can have some chocolate just before the exam for a quick energy boost to get you thinking!

Now, what you should do before an exam depends on whether it is in the morning or afternoon, but whenever it is you should remember not to panic. It really doesn't help anything. I know it is difficult as you will probably be worried about it but panicking doesn't help.

If it's a morning exam, make sure you wake up on time and have that breakfast I was talking about above. Get ready for school and make sure you have all the stuff you need (but it is best to get it all ready the night before). Go to school and find somewhere to sit down. At this point you have a few choices:

  1. Read through your notes calmly, but remember if you don't know something by then you probably won't have time to learn it so there is no point in panicking.
  2. Sit with your friends and chat normally. Just forget about the exam. Maybe talk about your plans for the weekend or something.
  3. Sit with your friends and talk about the upcoming exam. However this may make you more worried as they might be stressing out about it.

Before you go into the exam make sure you go to the toilet! I'm sure you don't want to have to go with the invigilator in the middle of the exam.

If it is an afternoon exam follow the same things as for the morning but then it changes depending on whether you have study leave or not.

If you have study leave, do some revision but I would try to avoid doing a lot of past papers as these can worry you more on the day of the exam. However doing one might be a good idea as it gets you in the right frame of mind for the exam. After revising, have a good lunch, and go to school in plenty of time where you can now do the steps from above.

If you don't have study leave, don't worry! Just focus on whatever lessons you have that day and then get a good lunch and do the above steps.

Sorry this is so long! Good luck with all your exams!

Last minute revision can be stressful so avoid it if possible! Just stay calm and be confident!

Good luck :)
