An explanation of the lymph node and how it forms?

Please can someone explain to me what the lymph node is and what forms there, and about lymph :) my exam is on monday and i don't get it :( thank you

A lymph node is a small circular ball-shaped organ of the immune system, distributed widely throughout the body and linked by lymphatic vessels. Lymph nodes are found all through the body, and act as filters or traps for foreign particles. They are important in the proper functioning of the immune system
