what is a resistor and what does it do?
A resistor is a component that reduces the current flowing in a circuit. The higher the resistance, the harder it is for electricity to flow, and so the lower the current. So say if you get an electric shock, it is the current that does the damage, not the voltage. So the higher the resistance in a circuit, the smaller the risk of injuring yourself.
Hope that makes sense :)
