      • Linton is of lower class due to Isabella running away from Heathcliffe but when Heathcliffe takes him in, Linton is treated like a respected member of society and Heathcliffe sets him up to marry Cathy

      • Heathcliffe has different coloured skin to the Earnshaws- Nelly compares him to an Arabian prince
    • Betrayal
      • Heathcliffe is betrayed by Hindley through childhood
      • Linton is betrayed by Heathcliffe because he is made to think he is good enough to marry Cathy
