- Everyone gets the education thats right for them
- Able students are not held back
- Tickly (2006) argues gender and ethnicity play a part. Afro-Carribean pupils are under represented in top sets.
- School pressure to improve results and league table positions.
- Pupils can be prepared for different levels of exams.
- Weakest students get more attention.
- Setting and streaming
- Setting: For each subject you are placed into a 'set' based on ability.
- Streaming: Each ability group are taught seperately from others for all subjects. (All classes with some group of people)
