- Truman and Stalin were very influential powers who were fighting over dominance.
- Stalin had control over all of Eastern Europe, giving him more power than Truman
- America had developed the first atomic bomb, leading to a power struggle between the Big Three
- The Big Three had no common enemy as Hitler had committed suicide.
- America was capitalist whilst the USSR was communist. They had opposing governments
