    • Cons and Libs willing to work with RMD + made offers to do so b/w 1929-31
    • King George V played role, saw depression as national crisis comparable to war, favoured a GOV with national unity to solve
    • Public opinion supported coalition- GE majority. Most accepted need for cuts to stay 'on gold' and avoid inflation as a consequence of coming off gold
