  • Why did people support the Nazis?
    • The Depression
      • They promised that when they came to power they would create jobs
      • They blamed the Depression on the politicians and the foreigners- especially the Jews
    • They were very well organised; they were filled with ex-soldiers which meant that they inspired obedience.
    • They used propaganda and took a very anti-Communist stance; the SA stirred violence in Communist meetings and made it look like they were 'controlling' and keeping the Communists 'in check'
    • They gave people public speaking classes and often took in and fed the unemployed
    • They portrayed Hitler as a strong leader- which is exactly what the people wanted after years of coalitions
