- What affects Biodiversity?
- Climate Change
- In order to species to adapt to new climate they must migrate and follow the climate patterns they are most suited to
- Reduced genetic diversity means that species are less able to adapt
- There are problemswith migration
- Major human developments
- large bodies of water
- mountain ranges
- agricultural land
- Agriculture
- Clearing of vegetation and modeern agriculture both reduce genetic diversity
- Two types of Modern agriculture:
- Human population growth
- An increase in the population has caused greater demand of food and consumer goods
- -We alter ecosystems to provide oursleveswith food
- -We destroy and fragment habitats
- -We use more and more of the Earth's resources
- -We pollute the atmosphere
- Extinction
- Occurs when the last member of a spcies dies or ceases to exist
- Scientists belive increase of human activity caused extinction of animals
- Scientists believe that we are the start of a mass extinction as result of human activity than natural disaster/climate change
