      • Kpd wanted to overthrow the weimar republic and establish a one party socialist state
      • By 1920 the Kpd had 400000 members
      • The spd was commited to parliamentary democracy
      • Uspd ends ad members join kpd or spd
    • continued unrest
      • communists tried to seize power in march 1920
        • more han 1000 workers killed
          • surpressed by the army
      • March 1921 army suppress communist revolt in saxony
      • Right wing groups assassinate leading politicians ho they think of as traitors
    • weak government coalition SPD, DDP, Centre
      • before 1920- commanded 78% f the Reichstag's seats
      • 1920 elections only had 48%
        • short lived coalition governments
    • Unequal justice
      • Those involved in the Ruhr uprisings were severely punished
      • Those involved in the kapp putsch were let off Scott free
      • between 1919-1922 there were 376 political assassinations
        • 22 by the left and 354 by the right
          • 10 left wingers sent to death not one from the right
          • 326 of the right wingers went unpunished
