  • Waves- Chapter 14
    • Progressive waves: Waves that move through a material and transfer energy from one place to another.
      • Longitudinal waves:Particles of the medium vibrate parallel to the direction of the wave velocity.
      • Transverse waves: Particles of the medium vibrate at right angles to the direction of the wave velocity.
    • Displacement: The distance of a point on the wave from its undisturbed position or equilibrium position.
    • Amplitude: Greater the amplitude, greater the sound. Max displacemnt.
    • Wavelength: Distance from any point on a wave to next exactly similar point.
    • Period: Time taken for one complete oscillation.
    • Frequency: 1/Period
    • Mechanical waves: They need a medium to travel like Sound.
