- 1. Screening - Removes large objects (sticks, leaves etc)
- 2. Sedimentation - Large insoluble particles settle out as sludge
- 3. Filtration - Small insoluble particles removed by being passed through sand filters
- 4. Chlorination - Chlorine is added to kill bacteria
