- Henry Kaiser (who had already made a name for himself building the South Coulee Dam and other WPA programmes) put his mind to heavy-duty military transport ships
- The Liberty Ships were extremely large at 440 ft and could pack in 3000 jeeps, 440 tanks, 3 and a half million servings of rations and 230 million rounds of ammunition
- It took 355 days to make the first liberty ship
- 6 months later in 1942, they could be made in 105 days
- By 1943, they took a mere 41 days to make from scratch
- In Henry Kaiser's shipyard, one could be produced in 17 days!

- 40 billion bullets
- By 1944, America was producing 60% if all the allies armaments
