    • Birth rate
      • The number of births in a year - expressed as a rate per 1000 population
    • Death Rate
      • The number of deaths in a year - expressed as a rate per 1000 population
    • Rate of natural increase
      • The number of people in a year by which a population increases or decreased- expressed as a rate per 1000 population
    • Doubling time
      • The time it takes for a populationt o double
    • Infant mortality rate
      • The number of deaths of infants (before their first birthday) in a year - expressed as a rate per 1000 live births
    • Life expectancy
      • The number of years that a person in a given population can expect to life - usually expressed as "at birth"
    • Dependancy ratio
      • The proportion of the population not in work who are dependant on those in work.
    • Fertility rate
      • The average number of children expected to be born to a woman over her lifetime
    • Replacement level
      • The number of children needed per couple to maintain a population  size
