      • Exercise improves health and develops fitness, which enhances performance in physical activities.
    • Components of Health-related fitness.
      • 1. Muscular endurance: The ability to use voluntary muscles many times without tiring.
      • 2. Muscular strength: The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance.
      • 3. Cardiovascular fitness: The ability to exercise the body for long periods of time.
      • 4. Body composition: The percentage of body weight that is fat, muscle and bone.
      • 5. Flexibilty: The range of movement at a joint.
    • Components of skill-related fitness.
      • 1. Agility: The ability to change the position of the body quickly and to control the movement of the whole body.
      • 2. Balance: The ability to retain the centre of mass of the body above the base of support with reference to static or dynamic conditions of movement, shape or orientation.
      • 3. Coordination: The ability to use two or more body parts together.
      • 4. Power: The ability to do strength performances quickly.
      • 5. Reaction time: The time between the presentation of a stimulus and the onset of movement.
      • 6. Speed: The amount of time it takes to perform a particular action or cover a particular distance.
