    • Public
      • What is it?
        • government funded statutory care organisations providing care which must be given by law
      • Examples
        • GP Surgery, Health Clinics, NHS Opticians, NHS Hospital, NHS dentist surgery, NHS walk in centres
      • Strengths
        • - Free entitlement      - widely accessible       - qualified professionals  - provide equality of care
      • Weaknesses
        • - long waiting list   -limited resources due to funding          - stressed staff -more accidents/ infections
    • Private
      • What is it?
        • run by individuals and companies for profit who are not owned or operated by the government providing services for a fee
      • Examples
        • nursing homes, residential homes, hospitals
      • Strengths
        • -shorter waiting lists -pay in periods          -choice in food menu   -choose doctor          -choose time
      • Weaknesses
        • -expensive        -doesn't cover pre-existing conditions         -same medical care as public  -still have mistakes            -creates inequality (rich vs poor)
    • Informal
      • Roles
        • cooking, cleaning, monitoring medication, shopping, bath, shower, toileting, wash, dress, feeding
      • What is it?
        • provide emotional support for a client who is a family or friend
      • Strengths
        • -good rapport  -no financial information
      • Weaknesses
        • -emotional stress            -guilty          -reduce social activity   -cannot progress academically   -depressed      -isolated
    • Voluntary
      • Roles
        • give advice, help keep active, join with NHS, maintain independence, deal with range of issues, contribute to physical & mental wellbeing
      • Examples
        • NSPCC, Britsh Heart Foundation, St John's Ambulance
      • What is it?
        • non profit making organisation depending on volunteers providing services for particular client groups (elderly) free of charge
      • Strengths
        • individuals receive help they need         -allow them to have company   support
      • Weaknesses
        • take away empowerment  -dependent on public funds            misunderstandings can be made
