      • The damaged pancreas is unable to produce insulin so glucose can't move through the blood stream.
        • it is often inherited.
          • It is an autoimmune condition, which means your immune system attacks healthy body tissue by mistake. It attacks the cells in your pancreas.

      • you can have insulin injections
        • it is also possible to have a pancreas transplant however, this is very risky and there aren't many donors
          • can't be cured however, treatment aims to keep blood glucose levels as normal as possible
    • complications
      • can cause long term health problems such as vision loos and blindness
        • can cause kidney failure.
