      • Investigate the rate of transpiration in different environmental conditions
      • Measures the rate of uptake of water by a plant

    • STEP 1
      • Set up potometer : Cut the stem of a fresh twig at an angle under water
    • STEP 2
      • Insert the cut end into the rubber tubing, under water
    • STEP 3
      • Remove twig and capillary tubing from the water and check the apparatus is air tight
        • Achieved if MENISCUS moves slowly towards the leaf
    • STEP 4
      • Allow 5 minutes for the plant to acclimatise
        • Record time for the meniscus to move 5cm
