  • There are 3 types of muscle
    • 2) Voluntary muscle- (SKELETAL OR STRIATED)  this leads to movement of the skeleton at the joints. Voluntary muscles form fibres and each is surrounded by a CSM
    • 1) Involuntary- (SMOOTH MUSCLE)  e.g. the iris of the eye which appear as circular and radial bundles. These are controlled by the autonomous system which means that they are not under conscious control.
    • 3) Cardiac muscle- This forms the muscular part of the heart. They are made up of many individual cells connected in rows.
      • 1) Atrial muscle
        • 2) Ventricular muscle
          • 3) Specialised excitory and conductive muscle fibres
