      • Armada anchored in Calais (France)
      • English sent Burning Ships
      • Armada sailed away
    • 5 August 1588
      • Armada sent a message to Italy telling them to be ready to meet the armada and to bring cannonballs
        • The English also set a message to the government asking them for amunition, gunpowder and food
    • 10 August 1588
      • the wind prevented the Armada from sailing back to the Channel
        • stoms wrecked many ships on the coast of scotland and ireland
          • only 1/2 returned
      • English followed at a distance but when it became clear that they were leaving they returned

    • English ships attacked near Gravelines
    • This broke the crescent  formetion
  • 30 July 1588
    • Spain made the decision to retreat back to Spain
      • via Scotland- Going north then around
