  • The recovery of the Republic under Stresemann 1924-29
    • The Dawes Plan - 1924
      • Stresemann persuaded France, Britain and America to lower reparations.
        • Payments would begin at 1 billion marks for the 1st year and would increase over the next 4 years to 2.5 billion marks.

    • The League of Nations - 1926
      • September 1926, Germany was given a permanent seat on the League of Nations.
        • Symbolised Germany's return to 'Great power'.
    • The Kellogg-Briand Pact - 1928
      • Keep armies for self-defence.
      • Solve international disputes 'by peaceful means'.
      • 64 other nations signed.
