- The Nervous System
- The nervous system allows you to react to what goes on around you.
- There are 5 sense organs.
- Sense organs and receptors are different.
- The eye is a sense oragan as it contains light receptors.
- The Ear is a sense oragan as it contains sound receptors
- The Parts of the Nervous system are:
- Eyes- light receptors- sensitive to light they are like animal cells.
- Ears- Sound receptors- sensitive to sound, change position due to sound.
- Nose- Smell receptors- chemical stimuli
- Skin- sensitive to; touch, pressure, pain and tempreture change.
- Sensory Neurones- Nerve cells carry electrical impusles- central nervous system
- Relay Neurons- Nerve cells carry sensory neurons.
- Motor Neurons- Carry single from Central nervous system to muscles or glands.
- Effectors- Muscles+ Glands are effectors
- Tongue- Taste receptors- sensitive to salt, bitter, sweet and sour.
- They all contain receptors- sensitive to stimuli, e.g. light energy.
- Stimuli can be light, sound, touch, pressure, pain, chemical, position or temperature change.
- The nervous system allows you to react to what goes on around you.
