    • Thomas Wolsey considered them to no longer be viable to invest the money into education.
    • There was a decline in in young men and women joining monastic life.
    • The behavior of monks, nuns/parish clergy was unacceptable, not keeping to their monastic vows
    • Cromwell didn't agree with the monastic lifestyle, it didn't agree with his Lutheran views.
    • It would provide a large sum of money to the crown.
