- The structure of atoms
- Atoms are the smallest part of an element that can exist.
- Atoms are very small. Typical atoms have a radius of about 0.1nm.
- Atoms are made from smaller particles called, protons, neutrons and electrons.
- Atoms are made from smaller particles called protons, neutrons and electrons
- Protons: In the nucleus, has a charge of +1 and a relative mass of 1.
- Neutron: In the nucleus, has a charge of 0 and a relative mass of 1.
- Electron: Outside the nucleus in energy levels (shells), has a charge of -1 and a relative mass 1/1840.
- The protons and neutrons are contained in a ting central nucleus.
- The nucleus is about 10 00 times smaller than the atom.
- The electron move around the nucleus in energy levels (also called shells)
