- Joint Movement.
- Joints are any points where 2 / more bones meet.
- Major joints in the body and their articulating bones.
- Hip - Pelvis & Femur.
- Shoulder - Humerus & Scapula.
- Knee - Femur & Tibia.
- Ankle - Tibia, Fibula & Talus ( a tarsal).
- Elbow - Humerus, Radius & Ulna.
- Flexion - Closing a joint e.g. wrist movement during a basketball throw.
- Extension - Opening a joint e.g. Kicking a ball.
- Adduction - Moving towards and imaginary centre line e.g. swinging a golf club.
- Abduction - Moving away from and imaginary centre line e.g. taking back a tennis racket before swinging it.
- Rotation - Clockwise or anticlockwise movement e.g. leg movement during a turnout in ballet.
- circumduction - Movement of a limb, hand/foot in a circular motion e.g. to bowl a cricket ball.
- Plantar-Flexion - Extension at the ankle e.g. pointing toes in gymnastics.
- Dorsi-flexion - Flexion at the ankle e.g. lifting toes during gymnastics.

- Ball & Socket - Hip & Shoulder. Flexion and Extension, Adduction and Abduction, Rotation & circumduction
- Hinge - Knee, Ankle & Elbow. Flexion & Extension.
- Condyloid - Wrist. Flexion & Extension, Adduction & Abduction, circumduction
- Pivot - Neck ( Atlas & Axis). Rotation
