  • The motor unit & skeletal muscle contraction
      • The muscle fibers are stimulated by its axon
        • A motor unit is made up of the muscle fibers it stimulates and the motor neuron
          • Motor neurons are specialized cells which transmit nerve impulses to a group of muscle fibers
  • All or none law- depending on whether the stimulus is above a threshold all the muscle fibers will give a complete contraction or no contraction
    • A skeletal muscle can only contract when stimulated by an electrical impulse
      • This is sent from the central nervous system
