      • In a multi-faith society there must be freedom of religious belief and expression
      • These are important issues and people want work out what is the right attitude. To do this religious people must express their opinions and non-religious people need to put forward opposing opinions
        • The public can then decide what they think is best
      • Sir Karl Popper said freedom of expression is essential for human societies to make progress
    • Should not be allowed to criticise what religions say about matters of life and death
      • Criticising stirs up religious hatred
      • Can cause serious offence to believers
      • Criticising religion is criticising God
      • It is a crime of blasphemy
