    • Intro
      • Mass media played a key role in creating the global world
        • advances in mass communications, digitalisation and cyber technology have transformed the world's concept of time and space
    • Culture

        • Culture in a human society is socially rather than biological transmitted
        • It refers to all that is learned from others in society
          • People are socialised in how things are done culturally, they learn what is culturally correct; values, norms, rules and traditions

        • It refers to what the elite class regard as the highest intellectual achievements
          • such as art, music, literature, ballet, opera
        • High culture are seen as superior to other cultures  because they are seen a profound
          • It is vital to the social and cultural health and well-bring of a society because societies globally judge eachother
            • This would be judged on the creativity, expression and philosophy
      • Folk Culture
        • It refers to the traditions and rituals of societies which have been passed down through generations
          • such as bonfire night, folk dancing and national costumes
        • It is regarded as authentic as it reflects what goes on in everyday life
          • Its becoming globalised as tourists demand to see the traditional things of that country
      • Popular Cultre
        • It is the mass media products in capitalist societies which are enjoyed by the majority
          • Its mainly focused on entertainment, but also exchanged information through sites like twitter
        • It is a culture manufactured for mass consumption rather than created for it's own sake
    • The Globalisation of Popular culture
      • Entertainment of the media has been globalised through different products like films, T.V internet
        • Large population engages with much of the same popular culture; same programmes etc
      • The globalisation of popular culture has led to it's homogenisation
        • People's consumption habits around the world are very similar
        • the reduction in cultural diversity because people abandon their folk culture in favour for global popular cultures
