- The Liberation Thesis- Adler (1975)
- What is it?
- Argues that as women become liberated from patriarchy, their offending will become similar to mens
- Points
- Adler argues that patriarchal controls and discrimination have lessened and opportunities have become more equal
- As a result, women have become to adopt traditional male roles in both legitimate (work) and illegitimate spheres (crime), and their rate of offending has risen
- Women no longer just commit traditional female crimes (eg, shoplifting, prostitution). There are more women in senior positions at work and this gives them the opportunity to commit serious white-collar crimes
