The league of nations, LoN
- The league came from the 14 points
  - there were 4 main aims of the league
    - Disarmament
    - Encouraging cooperation
    - Improving living and working conditions
- It was intended to police the world
  - It began in January 1920
  - All members followed a covenant of 26 rules
  - the assembly met once a year, and the council met more often. Every member county had a vote
  - the league could warn countries in disputes, apply economic sanctions then send troops in.
- early successes
  - It resolved several difficult situations where countries argued over territorial claims - and it did it without fighting
  - it did a lot of good work to help refugees after the war.
  - It fought against slavery and tried to create better working conditions for people all across the world
