    • WHO WERE THE KKK
      • the kkk were a fascist group consisting of white people.
      • their aims were white nationalism supremacy and anti immigration
      • they were anti-semitic-anti catholic and often used terrorism to instill fear into others
      • the kkk are three distinct movements preaching similar aims.
      • the kkk were a far right wing organization who still believed in the power of slavery
    • when were they founded
      • the first Klan was founded in the 1860s and were aiming to overthrow the republican government during the reconstruction era and died out in 1870
      • the second Klan was founded in 1915 and was even more worse than their predecessors and had burned crosses and had taken a more different approach
      • their third and current Klan was created after world war two although it was smaller than the recent Klan's it was more potent and dangerous. They are classified as a hate group by the anti-defamation league
    • WHAT WERE THEIR AIMS
      • they aimed to reinstate white supremacy by intimidating other races or groups of belief
      • they aimed to keep black people under their control as it was like in the times of slavery and in its early stages it often contained clergymen.
      • the KKK are a group that also aim to keep immigration at a minimum and often do marches in order to keep it that way by intimidating other ethnicitys
    • what strategies did they employ
      • the Klan often used violence and murder as a means of control  since it was quick and sent out a message
      • the Klan often contained law enforcement and politicians and even then alot of them gave the Kan a blind eye so the Klan continued with out prosecution
    • what did the government do to stop them
      • the government hardly intervened in the activities of the Klan since many politicians in the government were members of the KKK so they were given certain benefits
      • eventually the government passed enforcement acts which enabled black people certain rights and laws and also protected them
      • the fourteenth amendment made sure that African Americans were accepted as citizens into america
      • the  fifteenth amendment made sure that black people were given the same laws as whites and that those laws were protected and also banned racial discrimination
