    • Became harder to convince people the army was invincible
      • Families lost men and struggling with the living conditions
    • Rationing became tighter
      • The policy of 'Total war' meant that shops that didn't contribute (ex. sweet shops) were banned
      • Government lost support and resistance grew
    • 1945: Hitler and other Nazis committed suicide. Government collapsed
