  • The BMA
    • This is an INSIDER PG & a SECTIONAL group, concerned with the rights of Doctors and junior doctors
      • This means that it has regular contact with the govt, influencing policy decisions without the need ot direct action, and is often needed by the govt
    • Therefore, it is very unusual for the BMA to go on strike, especially since there hasn't been one for 40 years
      • This means that it has regular contact with the govt, influencing policy decisions without the need ot direct action, and is often needed by the govt
    • 21st June 2012: Announced a Doctor's strike
      • Triggered by a proposal of DECREASNG their pensions and WORKING LONGER HOURS
      • This would have a huge impact on the country, as the NHS is the only institution that is relied upon 24/7
