- Due to Antony's dealing in the East, he was drifting away from the Roman values which did not impress Octavian.
- After his invasion of Armenia in 34 BC, Antony "donated" some areas of the Empire to Cleopatra and her children.
- Not long after this, Antony sent a notification of his divorce from Octavia.
- After Augustus read Antony's will were he chose Cleopatra and her children as the receivers, war was decleared on him and Cleopatra
