  - In 2006 had one of the highest GDP per capita
  - Hiigh standard of living and quality of life is due to a sophisticated post-industrial economy
- What is Sweden's Energy Mix?
  - Heavily reliant on Nuclear Power
    - 3rd in EU for nuclear energy production
  - Relatively small quantities of fossil fuels used in Sweden
  - Renewable Energy (H.E.P mainly) account for 30% of Sweden's energy supply
- Whys Sweden's Energy Mix Like That?
  - Sweden's energy mix reflects its limited resource base
  - There is significant H.E.P potential in North Sweden
    - Most potential has now been harnessed
  - Nuclear Energy
    - Sweden has virtually no indigenous fossil fuels
      - Nuclear power was therefore developed as a result of this lack
    - Nuclear power was developed to avoid reliance on imported oil, coal and gas for security reasons
    - Today Sweden has 10 nuclear reactors - 50% of Sweden's electricity
    - Only 10% of pop are in favour of phasing out nuclear, most are more concerned about conserving the enviro from H.E.P (rivers)
