  • Stereopsis
    • Binocular depth cue
    • Allows us to see one image when presented with two side by side
      • One image from the right eye one image from the left eye
    • Uses both eyes at once
    • When we look at an image with both eyes, our brain forms one perception
      • The image on the right and left retina
      • The two images are combined
    • Works out depth by comparing the views from the left and right eye
    • Once the images from both eyes cross over at the Optic Chiasma, they can be compared
      • If the two images are very similar, then the object is far away
      • If they are quite different then the object is much closer
