  • Spirometer
    • Spirometry Trace
      • A graph showing inhalation and exhalation after time
    • Tidal Volume
      • The amount of ar you breather in during one breath normally -  8-10% of your lung capacity
    • Inspiratory Reserve Volume
      • The extra amount of air you can breathe in after you have filled in tidal inspiration(60% of total lung capacity)
    • Expiratory Reserve Volume
      • The extra amount of air you can breathe out after you have filled using tidal expiration (20% of lung capacity freed)
    • Residual Volume
      • The amount of air left in your lungs after you have exhaled as much as you can (20% never leaves)
    • Inspiratory Capacity
      • The amount of air someone can breathe in so tidal volume and inspiratory reserve volume
    • Vital Capacity
      • The amount of air someone can exhale after maximum inspiratory capacity. Tidal volume + inspiratory reserve volume + expiratory reserve volume
    • Functional Residual Capacity
      • The amount of gas left in the lugs after a normal tidal exhalation
    • Total Lung Capacity
      • The amount of gas in the lungs after you have breathed in as much as possible
