  • Socialization
    • Primary Socialisation
      • This takes place in early childhood, often in the home. It offers the basic norms and value of the family and culture.
      • Imitation - Children will imitate the behavior of others around them.
      • Manipulation - children are guided to certain activities by their parents
      • Activities - these teach their children how to act.
    • Secondary socialization
      • This teaches the norms for specific situations. Can be interpersonal (teacher and pupil) or impersonal (media to audience)
      • This involves external agencies and modifies the primary socialization.
      • Role models - children will look up to people, and imitate their behaviour.
