    • The way in which we learn the cultures and approapriate behaviour for the society we are born into
    • Primary socialization:
      • Refers to  when we learn in early chilhood when we learn basic behaviour patterns, language and skills needed for later in life. These are enfoced by 'agencies of primary socialization'
        • Agencies of primary socialization:
          • Refers to the groups/institutions responsible for primary socialization.
    • Secondary socialization:
      • Refers to later chilhood and adult life; where we learn the norms and values of the society we live in.
        • Agencies of secondary socialization:
          • -Mass media - Schools      -Peer groups -Religions     -Workplaces
