        • Can have a good effect, more common for Dem Soc but still accepted by Soc Dem.
      • Wealth Redistribution
        • Soc Dem don't believe in heavy income tax. Look for other subtle ways.
          • Better to let the economy generate more and create more wealth first. VAT less noticable.
        • Soc Dem don't spread out welfare, but focuses it on the needy.
      • Trade Unions
        • Have leaders involved in political decisions.
      • Individual Liberty
        • Soc Dem believe liberty trumps all. Believe in positive discrimination
    • 4 OLD LABOUR GOVS had strong socialts credentials tempered by moderation and pragmatism.
      • Nationalisation
        • Reflected Dem Socialism in a moderate way.
        • Wilson
          • Re-nat. iron and steel.
          • Forced small industry to merge together. anted to achieve more as a bigger business.
          • Modernisation through new technology.
      • Economic management
        • Based on Keynes, kept unemployment at 2% under Attlee.
        • Devaluation of the pound led to a great demand, kept people in jobs.
        • Wilson - state plan with department.
          • Devaluation put a stop to it.
      • Public services
        • Caring state looking after all people - NHS. Private medicine not abolished.
          • Not everything was free - prescription charges introduced.
        • Wilson - Comprehensive schools and Open University set up. Piecemeal fashion, bit by bit improvement.
