  • Social learning theory
    • The theory describes people learn from other people
    • Key concepts
      • Vicarious reinforcement
        • We learn from the consequences of other people's behaviour. For example, if we see another person being rewarded for something it gives the impression that it is a good thing
      • Role models
        • We pay attention to role models and learn from their behaviour because they are people that we identify the most
      • Mediational process
        • Learning and doing the behaviour that is seen
        • Behaviour is noticed by others (Attention) and remembered (Retention). Then if there is a reward (Motavtion) and then behaviour is copied (Reproduction)
    • Bandura's research-Bobo Doll experiments
      • Many children who saw the adult being aggressive went on to imiate aggression
      • The children were exposed to aggressive role models they are likely to imitate behaviour
    • SLT has useful applications for example social skills training aims to model positive behavior to reduce criminal behaviour
    • SLT has been used to argue that violent media can increase violent behaviour especially in children. Although people may argue that children are drawn to violent medica
